FAQ - LASER

How does a treatment with the Soprano ICE Platinum works at Wax Avenue?

To start with one of our laser specialists will check the area you want to have treated on skin damage, pigmentation and potentially too long hairs that have to be shaved away.

After the skin will be cleaned and boxes of 10cm by 10cm will be marked on your skin with a white pencil to mark the laser area.

On this area a special gel will be applied, that cools the skin and makes sure there is the best conduction for the laser light.

Every marked box will be lasered in a moving method for a certain amount of time, so the heat of the laser is built up gradually.

After the treatment the gel will be removed and when necessary the skin will be cooled and a cooling nourishing gel will be applied.

How many laser treatments are needed?

On average you’ll need between 6 to 12 treatments. There is no standard amount of treatments; every person, every skin and every hair growth are completely different so we believe in a personal approach.

How much time is in between treatments?

Because hairs grow in different phases, they can’t be removed in once.

Between treatments we advise the following time:

Face: 4 to 6 weeks

Body: 8 to 10 weeks

Armpits and pubic area: 6 to 8 weeks

How long does a treatment take?

The duration of the treatment depends on the area to be treated.

Is laser treatment suitable for every skin type?

Yes, the treatment is suitable for everyone! This is because we can adjust the settings to every skin type. Because of the innovative characteristics of the Soprano ICE Platinum we can now treat the darker skin tones too.

The Soprano ICE Platinum doesn’t just focus on the pigmentation, but also on the proteins underneath the hair follicle. This way the laser makes sure the hair follicle loses its nurturing characteristics so it’s not possible for a new hair to grow.

Is laser treatment suitable for every hair type/colour?

Yes, lighter hairs can be treated as well, but there are exceptions. We will judge your skin/hair at the intake appointment to decide if the desired result can be achieved.

Is a laser treatment painful?

A lot of people think of pain when they hear the word laser. But with the Soprano ICE Platinum it is now possible to treat without pain!

Of course, we have to raise the settings, which can create discomfort and for some pain.

Every one’s pain level is different, that’s why we can’t say that for everyone it will be pain free.

You can always ask you general practitioner (huisarts) for numbing cream called Emla. You need a doctor’s prescription.

From what age can I start laser treatment?

We can judge that with the intake appointment. With a minor it is mandatory that the parent or caregiver is present.

Can I have a laser treatment when my skin is sun tanned?

Yes, also a suntanned skin can be treated with the Soprano ICE Platinum.

Be aware we advise to avoid sun 2 to 3 days before and after laser treatment.

Can I have laser treatment during or after pregnancy?

No, Wax Avenue does not recommend laser treatment during or right after pregnancy. This is because the hormones during pregnancy and right after can influence the results of the laser treatment.

Is a laser treatment safe?

Yes! A laser treatment with the Soprano ICE Platinum is completely safe. In comparison to other machines, the Soprano ICE Platinum works with a movement method, that makes sure the skin is warmed up safely and carefully until a temperature where the hair follicle is being destroyed. Because of the accuracy of the laser it is impossible to damage the sweat- or lymph nodes in the skin.
